Fata Morgana: An unusual and complex form of mirage that is seen in a narrow band right above the horizon. These rapidly changing mirages distort the object or objects which they are based on significantly, often such that the object is completely unrecognizable.
Fata Morgana Press is the studio of Mary Clare Butler and Amy Leners. We embrace all forms of craft from the traditional to the experimental. Our interdisciplinary practice allows us to constantly shift our approach to traditional craft, making the outcomes unique and unexpected.
Mary Clare Butler is a printmaker, graphic designer and educator. She holds a BFA in Graphic Design from the University of Illinois Chicago and an MFA in Interdisciplinary Book, Paper and Print from Columbia College Chicago. Her practice investigates the complex relationships between modes of production and the environment.
Amy Leners is a printmaker, papermaker, and bookbinder. She holds a BFA in printmaking from the University of Iowa and an MFA in Interdisciplinary Book, Paper, and Print from Columbia College Chicago.
